WIP: Quick Update
Aug. 1st, 2012 03:25 pmSo that third tunic variation I was talking about? Here's a pic of it so far:

So, opinions?
Edit: So i was browsing through my Bodyshop and found this old mesh i'd made but neevr did any actually recolors for:

It's just a bit shorter, the mapping is slightly different, and the sleeves and shoes are not the same. Still, how did I forget this? And more importantly, Hat, would this work for the mesh you wanted if I also give a version with the sleeves I made from above?
(Work those legs, boys!)

Date: 2012-08-02 02:18 am (UTC)And looking at it now, the hands are in the wrong spot on the v2(poulaines) mesh. well, that is- you'll see hands resting on hips at slightly different widths for different meshes- but I'll try to fix that.
So far what I have planned and or made:
The first tunic (we'll call length 01) with sleeves 01 and blockfeet
Tunic length 01, sleeves 01, sexyfeet
Tunic length 01, sleeves 02, poulaines
Tunic length 02 (again, where did that mesh hide?), sleeves 03 -which look almost exactly like sleeves 01, but I know whatever mesh I ripped them from was different, and shoes 03 (Aligeth doublet/robin hood)
So next to round it off-
Tunic 01, sleeves 02, shoes-robin hood
Tunic 02, sleeves 02, shoes poulaines
Tunic 01, sleeves 02, sexyfeet for another nightshirt variation, eh?
I still want boot versions (especially thigh high), and I need a Romeo sleeve and I think for sleeve type 04 to mash up something with the wide 3/4 sleeve of Robin Hood. Oh, and the extracted 'Forge' shirt ( http://aquilegia.dreamwidth.org/4322.html ) as a fifth sleeve option. So yeah, time to trawl for more meshes to pick apart.
And Hat, if you want, I can send you the meshes tomorrow. That way YOU can make the millions of matching recolors. ;P

Date: 2012-08-02 02:46 am (UTC)I do believe those are all worthy meshes! I think the 01/02/sexyfeet combo would be a little odd (I've never seen an undershirt with lower sleeves like that), and I'm not sure I'll recolor all of them... But definitely 01/01/SF and 01/01/BF as nightgowns with and without chausses, and 02/02/poulaines as cotehardies to match my ladies. I'm not sure what all else, it depends on what I see a need for once I get on a roll. (Currently my brain is going 'Vikings! And kids! And put everything back in the game to take a couple non-bodyshop pictures! And work on kirtles!' I'll get it back around to 'men' before long.)
If you send me meshes, I will put them in my To Recolor folder and edit my to-do list. Especially if you also send me UV maps. (I have a program for it, but sometimes it's a little unreliable-- when I tell it to save as 1024 pixels, it does that... but saves with the mapping touching at least two edges of the image, even if that's not how the texture is actually mapped.)

Date: 2012-08-02 03:07 am (UTC)(I'll even give you the MAalpha robe. Ankle length, loose, full sleeves that gather at wrist- all and alpha over a regular nude body. it needs to be checked in-game for playability, and if it isn't too poke-pokey I'll actually bother with making morphs and recoloring it)
I think it was Dilly at PK that liked the idea of the sleeve 2 as a nightwear mesh, for a Wild West hood...
But I do have the first two meshes (block and sf) with the undershirt in various shades catagorized as sleep, swim, and underwear. And now that I have a plain tunic with keyhole neck, I need to apply it back to those meshes w/ all the linen shades for plainer sleep gowns. Probably just the sf version, because I have 14 shades and I don't need to do the every single chausse shade for each.
Between us both we might find someone to do the morphs...
While I have you here, because you know far more about what's what in medieval clothing (I can get pretty accurate in apparel shape and construction for things like the 18th cen.) how is the texture for the above mesh? Need lacing anywear? Were I to add trim, where?
I'm so happy I found this older mesh, because now I don't have to worry about trying to shorten the first one.
Is there any mesh element (from an existing mesh) that you demand I add to tunic 01 or 02?

Date: 2012-08-02 04:13 am (UTC)I'll take what you'll give me-- and I thought I recognized the color as one of mine. *grins* And aha, yes, well, if it's somebody else who wants it as a nightshirt, I won't even say boo.
If I didn't have a half-open request at Garden of Shadows, I'd offer to post something there-- there's always Igors Unlimited rather than Wishing Tree, I guess?
The texture on which above mesh, the shirt or the tunic? Cos if you're wanting me to retexture either, no worries, I'll be pulling from a mighty stash of Sherahbim textures, but if you're wanting to retexture on your own, it sort of depends on what you want them to be. (Although I will say, seams and hems are never a bad idea.)
Mesh elements... *runs through Body Shop real quick* Hm. Aside from your Romeo tied sleeves, I don't think so. Or at least nothing jumps out at me.

Date: 2012-08-02 04:35 am (UTC)Right now I sort of like the simplicity of the design, but does it need more?
The reason I want those Romeo sleeves so bad is because they're a distinctive enough look that I can peg the style as my 'Doriath' look, and anyone w/ those sleeves in immediately recognized as from there. And of course, now I'm trying to think of an alternate universe elf version of the Swiss Guard for making slashing a fashionable garment choice....

Date: 2012-08-02 04:59 am (UTC)Make slashing a popular choice because in sleeves, at least, you use less of your fine outer fabric and puff your shirt or chemise through it to give a grander look. It's surprisingly economical.

Date: 2012-08-05 02:09 am (UTC)But I've gotten seriously side-tracked with female clothing for the 18th cen. (For a given value of accuracy). I spent most of today making properly clocked silk stockings and hand-painting the templates to recolor stays. Of course, now I want to slap the stockings on everything- especially the rather garish bright red w/ white.
I'm telling myself it's because in my hood the 1700s come before the 1400s inspired folk- but frankly it's because it's a great excuse to look at costume screen caps from Marie Antoniette.
If you want, you can look at the WIPs at the Keep. I'm going to have to re-import the pixelated dark shades -and take a lot of in-game photos.
