Charmingly Massive 18th Century Clothing: Sets 17, 18, & 19

Set 17:
"Shift in Mood"

When I was making the underwear- the underpinnings and undergarments that go beneath the colored petticoats and robes that create the fancy court gowns of the last sets- I chose an alpha mesh by aikea-guiena that I loved to use for outfits. Problem, it was blockfoot and missing some morphs, older mesh that it was. So again I used my stockings to disguise lack of toes. Once Cynnix made a working version of this mesh with sexyfeet and all the morphs, I quickly took the base texture of the underwear sets and did a version where it was only the simple white shift and nothing else. There's only one color (shocking!), therefore one recolor for adult and one for teen.

As the only rococo outfit for women categorized as swimwear, I felt the boat was appropriate.

Set 18:
"Rococo De-Robed"

The little flimsy white shift from above was something of an afterthought. My real focus when tackling the feminine underpinnings of these gowns was to make stays that were closer to the period instead of Victorian or out-right fantasy. And after I scanned the blogs of people whose hobby is historic costume recreation, I saw the ad for authentic silk stockings from American Duchess. Lovely, intricate two-tone silk stockings. Even though I was just using a simple white texture on the stockings 'til now, I figured that since this little underwear project was going to show all of the stockings we needed more pizzazz. Instead of adding a colored ribbon to the plain white stockings to give a bare minimum of visual interest, I would attempt to recreate those fancy silk ones. And promptly learned that the UV mapping for meshes around the ankles is a pain.

In the end I did 8 fancy stockings: the white with black, red with white, a two-tone black, two-tone silver, cream and gold, white with pink, a robin's egg blue with white, and olive green with gold.

Here's the models goofing off in the underwear- teen Ilmare and Vana in the blue and pink, and the onlookers Yavanna and Aule wearing the other sets.

I categorized them for both underwear and sleepwear because as a narrow mesh it wouldn't stick out from the sheets badly, and then classified it for activewear as well because out of the underwear sets this was the only other one I could see the queen doing yoga in.

Set 19:
"Stay in the Age of Reason"

Same eight silk stockings and plain shift.

Now I've added the other element- the stays (think corset, but not the Victorian shape nor with the Victorian's use of metal eyelets and ultra-stiff boning). Reminder, before the crazy lacing of the mid 1800s, corseting was not supposed to make it hard for you to breathe. Just help the posture, hold up the 'girls', and help the shape of the dress. There were a few styles of stays from looking at sources, so I tried my best to recreate something that looked close.

They are back-laced, so ladies need a maid. I might come back and make stays that are front-laced and on another shift another day, but that sounds like something for my Tudor-elves.

The eight colors of the stays are mostly brand new shades because they wouldn't be showing from under the layers of the dresses themselves, but still work for the general look of my many Ainur. This is only for underwear and sleepwear, plus there's a teen version of the set.
